Overview
This article is for Logic Video Platform (LVP) users and details how to upload and transcode video directly from Logic CMX. If you are using an external video source such as Zype, Backlight, Vimeo, YouTube, Mux, Cinesend, or other service, refer to their instructions to upload video and Logic will automatically populate via API, external URLs, or embed codes.
Please Note: Logic supports MP4 video files or external URLs (direct links) to MP4 files or video service (YouTube, Vimeo). Do not upload .MOV or QuickTime files. They are not supported.
Steps to Upload Video
1. Login to Logic CMX admin. Go to the Video tab from the left side nav bar and select Library.
2. Select the "Add New Video" button located at the top right corner of the video library page.
3. Drag your MP4 video to the the upload box at the top of the new video page. A progress bar will appear to show that the video is uploading. Warning: Do not navigate away from the video page while upload is in progress.
4. Enter the title of the video in the Title field below the video upload box. The title should be in a user friendly format as it will be displayed on the front-end to users. The title field is the only required field necessary to save the video.
5. Once the upload completes, a cogwheel animation shows that the video is starting processing. Once completed, SAVE the video before leaving the page. Once saved, you will be able to continue entering metadata, category & genre settings, and attributes.
6. Upload a video thumbnail. This is the image that will display in the video player before the video plays. It should be a landscape (16:9) aspect ratio jpeg or png image. Or optionally, you can select an auto generated thumbnail after the video completes transcoding (you may need to return to the saved video after several minutes to see the autogenerated thumbnails.
Creating a Video From an External URL
1. Login to Logic CMX admin. Go to the Video tab from the left side nav bar and select Library.
2. Select the "Add New Video" button located at the top right corner of the video library page.
3. Enter a URL (direct link) to an MP4 file or from YouTube or Vimeo into the External Video URL field locate below the Video Upload box.
4. Enter the title of the video in the Title field below the video upload box. The title should be in a user friendly format as it will be displayed on the front-end to users. The title field is the only required field necessary to save the video.
5. SAVE the video entry. Once saved, you will be able to continue entering metadata, category & genre settings, and attributes.
6. Upload a video thumbnail. This is the image that will display in the video player before the video plays. It should be a landscape (16:9) aspect ratio jpeg or png image.
