Proper file management ensures that your Logic CMX application runs efficiently and can be maintained over time. Files such as images, pdfs, video and other supporting assets are uploaded through the Media Manager. The media manager is located in the left nav panel of the Logic CMX admin area but is also accessed from any modules that require media uploads such as the image, hero panel, and video player modules. Follow these steps for best results.
Folders
Avoid uploading all files to the root of the media manager as this will become difficult to manage over time and can even slow the website performance if a large number of files (500 or more) are left in the root level. Folders are typically created around the website structure. Some common folders are logos, heroes, merchandise, blog, gallery, etc. You can also have folders named for specific pages or sections such as home, about, bios, catalog, etc. Within these folders, sub-folders can be added to further organize content. Do not use spaces or special characters in folder names.
Files
Only upload approved file formats. Do not use spaces or special characters in file names. Avoid excessively large files exceeding 75 to 100 mb. Do not use the media manager as an FTP site. Do not attempt to bulk upload a large number of files exceeding 10 to 15 files at a time (based on overall file size).
Supported file formats:
- Jpeg
- Gif
- Png
- WebP
- MP4
- Word.doc
- CSV
- Excel.xls
- Text / txt
What Not To Do!
- Do not leave spaces in file names or folder names as this will slow performance
- Do not use special characters in file or folder names such as *&/<>#@%!();: as these are reserved for code and can break the website or application
- Do not rename files or folders after they are in use. Renaming will break the file path resulting in missing images, pages, and errors. If a filename is changed, it must be manually relinked in all modules.
- Do not have folders with more than 500 items as this will slow performance or break the application. Instead, arrange files in sub-folders.
- Do not attempt to bulk upload an excessive number of files through the media manager (40 or more images depending on file size)
- Do not upload unknown file types or executable files (exe files)
- Do not upload excessively large files exceeding 100 Mb or use the Media Manager as an FTP site
